Moving Toward Success and Sustainability in a Large and Diverse Multi-State HIE

You won't want to miss this upcoming webinar:

Moving Toward Success and Sustainability in a Large and Diverse Multi-State HIE
Thursday, May 10, 2012 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EDT

Early in 2011, Kansas Health Information Network (KHIN) implemented a statewide health information exchange (HIE) to connect a broad geographic region that covers large urban and rural areas in Kansas. KHIN’s original goal was to connect 80% of all health care providers by 2016, and has far exceeded its 2011 goal of 400 providers by connecting over 1000 providers in 2011. KHIN covers a broad territory that includes all of Kansas encompassing 130 hospitals, 4500 physicians, 75 rural health and safety net clinics, 100 public health departments, 22 community mental health centers, 400 post acute care facilities, 600 pharmacies and 125 labs.

Don't miss this webinar on ACOs and the future of health care

You won't want to miss this upcoming webinar on HCPLive about Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and the future of health care. Listen as David Harlow, author of the Health Blawg, speaks about ACOs and bundled payments.

The webinar will be held on:
Thursday, October 27, 1:00-2:00PM (ET).

For more details, you can go here.

In the future (starting tomorrow!) health care providers will have to do more with less. Total reimbursement by both public and private sector payors is dropping, and the metrics for success are changing. Instead of thinking about this as a zero-sum game, payors and providers are moving away from fee-for-service payment systems to bundled payment systems. The health reform law spells out one such program in detail -- the ACO, or shared savings, program -- and created the CMS Center for Innovation, and funded it with $25 billion. The Center for Innovation’s mandate is to run experiments on how to do more with less, and to scale up successful experiments quickly.

EHR Implementation and Optimization: A Consumer Software Approach

Implementing electronic health records (EHRs) to date has proved to be an arduous process for many healthcare organizations. Most adoption approaches have failed because they don't adequately take user behavior into consideration during or after an implementation. A new, innovative approach to implementation and optimization must be introduced in order to avoid the all-too-common adoption pitfalls.

Selling new business can cost five times as much as retaining old, and a 5-percent increase in customer retention can increase profitability more than five-fold. Nonetheless, efforts to measure and maintain customer retention are often an after-thought in a company's strategy. Customer experience research can be costly and time consuming. More importantly, without comparable competitive data, interpreting product performance based on metrics can often be more confusing than helpful.
