The phrase "social media" is poorly understood by health care professionals. There are many misconceptions and myths related to terms like Twitter, Facebook, etc. These social media tools can be used to improve medication adherence, but most health care professionals are not even using them for professional purposes.

Medication adherence remains a persistent and pertinent issue in health care.
