There's a nice story on CNN titled, "Tracking your body with technology." Sounds pretty interesting, especially if you're not familiar with the Quantified Self movement. Is the QS movement a fad, or is this a permanent trend that will change the way we pursue health and wellness?
I've played around with a variety of QS gadgets like the Fitbit, the BodyMedia arm band, and even the Zeo sleep monitor. Because I'm not trying to lose weight or achieve an ambitious exercise goal, these devices offer limited value to a person like me. However, if you're highly motivated to change your behavior, then self-tracking devices like the Fitbit can be highly effective in helping you sustain lifestyle modifications. Eventually, we're probably all going to rely on some type of self-tracking whether it's through a smartphone, a fancy watch, or some other device we attach (or wear if the device is integrated into our clothes).
