Baxa Corporation Honors Healthcare Facilities that Foster Patient Safety

Global Patient Safety Day highlights the need to minimize medical errors and push towards advancement in pharmacy innovation and safety.

Englewood, Colorado - In honor of today's Global Patient Safety Day, Baxa Corporation pays tribute to healthcare communities that take action every day to strengthen patient safety practices and policies. At 12:00 p.m. EDT today, healthcare providers, consumer groups and families will observe a moment of silence in honor of the patients and families who have been impacted by a medical error.

This annual campaign highlights the need for all healthcare stakeholders to be informed, involved and invested in making healthcare safe 365 days a year. To that end, pharmacy professionals at more than 3,000 hospitals around the world rely on Baxa products each day to produce more than 450,000 safe medication doses.

Baxa Corporation set a course towards patient safety at its inception in 1975. Throughout its thirty-five plus years of industry leadership, Baxa has spearheaded innovative technological advances that will drive safe practices into the next decade. This includes:

  • The ExactaMed® Oral Syringe - The world's first syringe designed for safer and more accurate delivery of oral unit doses.
  • The ExactaMix® 1200 and 2400 Automated Compounding Devices (ACDs) - The only ACDs that enable pharmacists to ensure both small-volume accuracy and large-volume delivery speed in a single unit.
  • The RapidFill™ Automated Syringe Filler - The industry-leading solution for quickly and safely filling up to 7,000 IV syringes per day.
  • DoseEdge® Pharmacy Workflow Manager - The first product of its kind that has prevented more than 295,000 dose preparation errors in US hospital pharmacies.

In honor of the eleventh annual Global Patient Safety Day, Baxa Corporation urges professionals in the healthcare community to take proactive steps every day to strengthen patient safety practices and policies. According to Baxa CEO Greg Baldwin, "It started with my father's vision over three decades ago, and each day our team continues to work towards innovative pharmacy technologies for safe medication handling and delivery. Building a global culture of safety and error prevention is part of every decision we make."
