My Family Health Portrait was originally developed in collaboration
between the Office of the Surgeon General and the National Human Genome
Research Institute, a part of the National Institutes of Health,
Department of Health and Human Services.
Using
My Family Health Portrait you can:
- Enter your family health history.
- Print your family health history to
share with family or your health care worker.
- Save your family health history so you
can update it over time.
As patients spend more time tracking their family medical history, the trends and patterns of genetic diseases will emerge and this will help scientists with the field of medical genomics (or genomic medicine). Speaking of genomic medicine, the
New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) has an article titled, "Genomic Medicine — An Updated Primer."
