Happy birthday ARRA

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, abbreviated ARRA (Pub.L. 111-5), is an economic stimulus package enacted by the 111th United States Congress on February 17, 2009. It's now one year old! Happy birthday!

Total Obligated HHS Funds: $69.5 Billion (as of 1/29/10)
Total Gross Outlays: $48.2 Billion (as of 1/29/10)

$25.8 billion is set aside for Health Information Technology (Health IT, HITECH)
  • $60M Program to Fund Strategic Health IT Advanced Research Projects (SHARP) 
  • $80 Million Will Be Made Available to Support Health IT Workforce 
  • Nearly $1.2 Billion in Grants Available to Help Doctors and Hospitals Use Electronic Health Records
