If you've been to a major shopping mall recently, maybe you've seen a kiosk for an electronic cigarette. Smoking Everywhere is one brand selling electronic cigarettes and they aren't inexpensive. These kiosks look quite impressive and they have elaborate displays. Today, when I was walking through the mall, my wife and I happened to stop by one of these booths. I wonder if they'll start marketing to physicians. These e-cigarettes are not approved by the FDA, so they probably won't make it to the doctor's office.
Speaking of the FDA, they recently came out with a warning statement about these e-cigarettes. They said, "The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today announced that a laboratory analysis of electronic cigarette samples has found that they contain carcinogens and toxic chemicals such as diethylene glycol, an ingredient used in antifreeze."
So, I wonder how long these things will last on the market...
