ZocDoc is nominated for Best Social Media Customer Service

Author: Thuc Huynh, MD

ZocDoc is a service that allows patients to book doctor appointments online with ease. The service is free for patients. Physicians pay a fee to have their listing in the ZocDoc database. Patients love it.

The company has been nominated for Best Social Media Customer Service and will be vying for the title against 4 other companies at the Mashable Awards Party in Las Vegas. According to this post on TechCrunch, it seems as though ZocDoc treats its customers right; even giving away a 20 dollar Amazon Gift Card if the doctor decides to reschedule a patient’s appointment that was previously set using the ZocDoc system.

The company launched in September 2007 and has expanded slowly to 5 major metropolitan cities : New York, DC, Chicago, San Francisco, and Dallas. They are financially backed by major companies such as Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com, Marc Benioff of Salesforce.com, the Founders Fund and Khosla Ventures.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting up with Karsten Vagner, Director of Communications at ZocDoc when I was in New York and enjoyed talking with him over lunch. Just talking with him gave me a sense that their company truly is a friendly entity aimed to please their customers.
