AMWA 2008: Setting the Pace

The 2008 AMWA conference is titled: Setting the Pace. The meeting in Kentucky this year. It occurs immediately after the AMA 19th Annual Conference of the National Task Force on CME Provider/Industry Collaboration, “Certified CME for Better Patient Care: Navigating the Regulatory Environment.”
For those who are interested in learning more about medical writing opportunities, this meeting is a great place to network and discover how others have gotten started.

Advances in Capsule Endoscopy

Swallow a pill and let it take pictures of your gut. Sounds great, doesn't it? Well, the PillCam has been a leader in this medical device industry. However, it's not the only company making endoscopic capsules. RF System has the Sayaka and Olympus has the EndoCapsule. I think it would be so much fun to engineer these tiny devices that can take pictures inside your body. The next generation of these tiny probes may even take biopsies!

Samsung SCH-i760 gets a Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade

The title says it all. Microsoft released Windows Mobile 6.1 a while ago, and now Samsung is offering a free upgrade for those who have a SCH-i760 smartphone.

I'm still using my XV6800 (HTC Titan, Sprint Mogul, PPC XV6800) and I've been running Windows Mobile 6.1 for a few months now - thanks to the XDA developers.

Centrino 2 Processor

It's so great to see a new mobile processor come out. Many new notebooks/laptops using the new Centrino 2 processor have popped up from Sony, HP, Lenovo (IBM), Fujitsu, and several others.

I've used several laptops that had the older Centrino processor and I must say that those machines really struck an excellent balance between battery life and performance. The new Centrino 2 machines sound like they are even better. I can't wait to get my hands on the new Lenovo Thinkpad X200 Tablet. That looks like it will be a great machine!

Here's a great article from Laptop Magazine that describes some of the key highlights of the new Centrino 2 processor.
